**Introduce yourself** by posting below. Give other CB+ members a sense of your own interests and areas of expertise. This is optional, of course, but it can help to build trust and understanding among members.

👋 Hello, I’ll kick things off here…

I’m Leo Hickman, editor of Carbon Brief.

You can see my short bio on Carbon Brief’s [About us](https://www.carbonbrief.org/about) page.

I’m (sort of) active on [Bluesky](https://bsky.app/profile/leohickman.carbonbrief.org) and [LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/in/leo-hickman-39384b158/).

I live in Hampshire, England, and have been a journalist for almost 30 years.

My favourite film is, somewhat pretentiously, the 1982 “environmental masterpiece” [Koyaanisqatsi](https://www.theguardian.com/film/filmblog/2011/dec/15/my-favourite-film-koyaanisqatsi).

👋 Hi all, I’m Dr Simon Evans, CB deputy editor and senior policy editor.

You can find me on [Bluesky](https://bsky.app/profile/drsimevans.carbonbrief.org), [LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/in/drsimevans/) and X, although I mainly only cross-post on the latter, as it’s a (dark) shadow of its former self.

I live in Walthamstow in east London and I’ve been a journalist for nearly 20 years, having realised that writing about science-y stuff was more fun than lab work.

In the spirit of @LeoHickman’s intro, I haven’t been to the cinema since ~1982 (or, as we have two kids, it feels that way). But, since we’re being pretentious, I did study chemistry at uni partly thanks to Primo Levi’s short story collection, The Periodic Table.

I’m looking forward to connecting with you.

Hey Everyone. This is Mufeed Shaikh, I’m a tree hugger based ironically in the urban jungle/desert of the United Arab Emirates. As I can’t hug buildings or cactus, staying informed of all the climate news around the world is how I feed my interest. I work as an Assistant Manager for Sustainability at a large real estate company in Dubai - feel free to add me on LinkedIn and reach out for a chat! Hello everyone, I’m Dave Reay and am co-chair of the [Just Transition Commission](https://www.justtransition.scot/) here in Scotland.

I’ve worked on climate change since the early 90s, mainly as an academic at the University of Edinburgh. Throughout those years my core passion was (and still remains) enhancing access to climate education. Carbon Brief has been the go-to resource for supporting my teaching for years - it’s awesome - so thank you Leo and the team for all that you do, including developing this new CB+ platform.

Nowadays I spend most of my time playing with soils, digging ponds and planting trees on our wee farm on the west coast of Scotland, but looking forward to continuing to learn about and engage on everything climate change here.

Favourite film? Probably ‘About Time’ (though can never see the ending properly due to all the tears)

Happy Tuesday and Peace to youall.

I am Elia Jay Scott (she/her), bachelor of physics and computer science with minor mathematics (NDSU, 2016), master-candidate of mechanical engineering (NDSU, on hiatus), bachelor of social work (UBC, 2026), the creator and owner-operator of the climate crisis public-informational website [NetNeg9Y.net/](https://netneg9y.net/), and the cellist-vocalist and editor of environmentalist music-video Youtube channel [@ELIAHAVAH](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPpQILgDMibH1V4ooR7-vRoqWIUUjI6YO).

Although I left the sciences in 2019, and went into social services instead, due to a change in faith and moral conviction – on 2026 Nov 1 Sun, I just have submitted my first ever scientific paper, for hopeful peer review and publication! It has been submitted to Wiley _Weather_; and the title is—

_NET NEG 9Y – corrected necessary Net Zero dates (with intervals), necessary emissions change-rates (with feasibilities), and necessary, immediate, rapid, mass-scale public policies, for human survival and preservation of the biosphere._

Much (though not all) of the content of the report may be found already independently published on my non- peer reviewed website, above. I hope that youall may find the information on that website useful!

Peace to youall always. 🙏🌎💞
